Agreement between Lundaspelen and international referees 2024
You are welcome to join us as a referee for Lundaspelen, the world’s largest indoor handball tournament with over 750 teams participating.

Lundaspelen is played in Lund and its surroundings between 26-30 December 2024

As the world’s largest indoor youth handball tournament, we offer a unique opportunity to referee high-level international handball and to be part of our international referee community. Each year, over 200 referees from over 20 countries participate in this international youth cup.

Payment
The payment consists of two parts. Lundaspelen reimburses travel expenses and Lundaspelen pays referees per game.

Per Match payment
Referees are paid for each match they officiate.
Generally, international referees receive SEK 75 per match and referee.
Individual referees in the Elite category can receive up to 120 SEK per game, depending on their performance level. The Elite category designation will be confirmed with the referees individually prior to the tournament.
Each match has a playing time of 2×15 minutes.

Travel expenses
Lundaspelen offers compensation for travel expenses up to (max.) SEK 1500 and only upon presentation of a receipt.

Example
Car with one referee receives up to SEK 1500 Car with two referees receives up to SEK 3000 car with three referees receives up to SEK 4500.

Please note that only documented travel expenses can be reimbursed. Be sure to keep all original receipts and present the receipts from your outbound journey to us at check-in.

Transfer
The referee is responsible for transfers to and from your accommodation on the day of arrival and departure.

Payment example:
A referee team of two referees works in 20 matches and hands in receipts for travel costs of more than SEK 1500 – Each referee will receive:
SEK 1500 (travel costs) + 20 matches * SEK 75 per match = SEK 3000 Important side information on payment:

• Please note that Lundaspelen does not cover additional costs that may occur in your own country such as bank transfers or taxes.
• The commission written above is before taxes.
• It is very important that your bank details are filled in correctly (name of bank,
IBAN, SWIFT/BIC and TIN number). We cannot guarantee your commission if there are incorrect numbers or names

Accommodation
Lundaspelen offers free hotel accommodation for all international referees during the tournament. Providing hotel accommodation between 26-30/12 (4 nights).

The hotel rooms will be assigned to the referees. You will get to know in which hotel you will be staying upon checking in at our office. Most rooms are shared, accommodating 2-4 people.
Breakfast at the hotel (or in a school) is included.

If you need hotel accommodation for additional nights before or after the tournament, we recommend booking your accommodation for theses extra nights directly. Extending your stay through Lundaspelen is possible but will lead to a charge of 1300 SEK per person per night. You will very likely find accommodation for extra nights at lower rates.

Lundaspelen Card
Every referee receives a Lundaspelen card
This card includes: Meals 27-29/12: lunch and dinner

Transportation
Free use of the Lundaspelen buses as well as the local transport routes that are included in the Lundaspelen card.

Your participation

Application
You can apply as a referee through the registration link on the referee website of Lundaspelen (https://www.lundaspelen.com/en/paricipants/referees/).

All referees need to register in person.
The deadline for registration is 30 November 2024

Referee criteria:
You must be an authorized and approved referee by your handball district. You also need to have passed your district’s requirements in 2024. Ideally, you should have a few years of experience in refereeing handball.

Referees meeting:
You must attend the mandatory referees meeting on 26/12. More info will come closer to the tournament.
Referee equipment:
Each referee is responsible for bringing all necessary equipment themselves.

Assignments:
During Lundaspelen, approximately 2,500 matches are played. The schedule is as follows:
• December 27-28: Group phase
• December 29: Play-Off
• December 30: Finals Day

In the group phase and play-off (December 27-29), many matches will be held. We aim for each referee to officiate six to eight matches per day during these rounds.
On Finals Day, only the final matches are played. Only a few referees will receive matches on the finals day. Final referees will be selected during the tournament week.
Assignments for the first tournament day will be published on the evening of December 26 via a personalized link.

Cup Manager profile – your official page
After your registration you get the log in data to your personal Cup Manager profile. You can access this page through the link on referee website. On your profile you can see your personal data and update it. You will also see your matches and important information about your assignments there once they are published.
Please make sure that you have access to your own profile.
